Woodgrange LOL unveils new Lambeg drum

10 July 2019

A NEW Lambeg drum will be making its first Twelfth appearance in Crossgar this Friday.

The drum was unveiled for the first time at Woodgrange Orange Hall recently.

For many years Woodgrange LOL 1073 had a successful competition pipe band, but in recent times they have returned to the traditional fife and Lambeg drum.

The new drum was dedicated to the memory of Sergeant James Edgar, 13th Royal Irish Rifles and bears a painting of him.

Some of his possessions were on display while his grandson, Ian Edgar, gave a short talk on his life. The new drum will be played by his great nephew, James Edgar.

On the night there were a number of performances on it and other drums while those in attendance enjoyed the food and refreshments which had been provided.
