Ulster Fleadh festival ends on a high note

1 August 2018

CASTLEWELLAN said farewell to the Ulster Fleadh on Sunday following a busy week of festivities.

Thousands of visitors descended on the town, which successfully hosted around 6,000 competitors of all ages.

The Ulster Fleadh is a unique family friendly experience, offering something for everyone, bringing the community together to celebrate music, song, dance and language.

Featuring music competitions and concerts across a wide range of instruments and ages, cultural activities and legendary traditional music headline acts, over 200 Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Eireann volunteers worked hard to put together the programme.

Castlewellan’s organisers also had to deal with the unseasonal bad weather as they battled valiantly to keep concerts, competitions and colourful parades on track.

Full details of all of this year’s events can be found at www.ulsterfleadh.com or on Facebook.

The Fleadhanna in Ulster are supported by Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Tourism Northern Ireland and Newry, Mourne and Down Council.
