Tollymore bike trail wins major NI activity award

11 January 2012

TOLLYMORE Mountain bike skills track has been voted best new outdoor activity venue in Northern Ireland.

The new track at the Tollymore National Outdoors Centre near Bryansford was recognised by public vote during the recent OutdoorNI.com Awards in association with Surf Mountain.

In a closely fought category, Tollymore clinched the award from another mountain bike trails development at Blessingbourne Estate in Fivemiletown.

Trevor Fisher, manager of the Tollymore National Outdoors Centre, said he was delighted to be recognised by the public in this best new activity venue category.

“We were up against some fantastic mountain biking and canoeing locations so to come out on top is amazing and a real encouragement to keep striving forward in 2012,” he said.

“The track is short with lots of technical features and is designed to help develop specific skills and techniques in a safe environment.

“There are rock gardens and log rides, which riders may come across on trails both here in Ireland and across the water. The hope is that if riders can master the skills track here at Tollymore then they’ll be ready for anything out on the trails.”
