Thousands for children’s cancer fund

12 November 2014

STAFF of Ballynahinch and Saintfield supermarkets have joined forces to raise over £6,000 for children with cancer.

Employees of Morrison’s Vivoxtra in Ballynahinch and Saintfield are celebrating the success of their recent fundraising drive for the Cancer Fund for Children.

The team raised £6,301.61 by organising a charity football match, skydiving, and encouraging their customers to donate their spare change in store to support local children, teenagers and young people living with cancer and their families.

Sorcha Chipperfield, corporate fundraiser for the charity, thanked the staff and customers who, in collaboration with stores across Northern Ireland since 2011, have now raised a total of £347,000 for the charity.

“Every week in Northern Ireland, another three families will hear the devastating news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer,” she said.

“At Cancer Fund for Children, we understand the crushing impact this diagnosis can have and that aside from necessary medical treatment, there is a family life that needs to be rebuilt.”

We are delighted that Morrison’s Vivoxtra are helping us to extend a lifeline of support to hundreds of families across Northern Ireland, at a time when they most need it.

“We are so grateful to the staff and customers for their kind generosity.”
