Susan’s walk raises £840 for Portaferry Lifeboat

A BALLYNAHINCH pensioner has been congratulated for raising £840 for Portaferry Lifeboat.

Eighty six year-old Susan Brewster enlisted the help of her friends, Lorraine Bothwell and Sylvia Somerville, to complete a three-mile sponsored walk around the lake in Castlewellan Forest Park.

Susan, a long standing supporter of Portaferry Lifeboat, received the Thanks on Vellum certificate in 2015 for her fundraising efforts for the RNLI.

Apart from sponsored walks, these have included a street collection in Ballynahinch, bric-a-brac sales and a Lifeboat themed 80th birthday party.

She was concerned at the lack of fundraising support due to the current restrictions and decided she needed to do something to help the RNLI.
