Strangford hotshots see off Owenbeg

STRANGFORD A were always going to be too strong for Owenbeg in their Lecale Table Tennis League clash and ran out comfortable winners.

But, to their credit, the popular Downpatrick-based team made their opponents work for every point and can be pleased with winning their two matches and overall points total against an experience team.

Colin McKinty got Strangford off to a good start but was made to work hard for this five-game victory over John MvEvoy.

Joe McConville made it two for his team against the talented Manus McEvoy, who can be pleased with his point score over three games against the former league number one and Michael Carey made it a hat-trick of wins for the home team with his straight game victory over Dan McEvoy.

Strangford continued to put wins on the card in the next three games to ensure the points.

Owenbeg weren’t finished just yet and two further wins from John and Manus McEvoy was just reward for an excellent team performance.
