THE Duchess of Sussex has a lot to thank Comber woman Stephanie Jordan for.

A press photographer captured a beautiful moment when the former television star Meghan Markle spotted Stephanie and her friends in the crowd during a visit with Prince Harry to Dublin in July.

The image from Irish Independent photographer Gerry Mooney was then used for a Royal thank-you card sent out to all who wished the Duchess well on her recent birthday.

Since Stephanie wore her ‘When Harry Met Meghan’ T-shirt to greet the Royal couple, her life has been “quite surreal”.

The 27 year-old health service administrative officer said that apart from receiving a thank-you card from the Duchess, the image of them both smiling at one another has been published throughout the world.

She has also appeared on the Ray D’Arcy radio show and TV show on RTE.

“It’s all been quite surreal but wonderful and great fun and something to be treasured,” said Stephanie.

“I had never really been to a Royal visit before but after my friend and I celebrated Harry and Meghan’s wedding with our T-shirts on at an afternoon tea party, when we heard they were coming to Dublin we decided to go and see them.”

Having earlier sussed out that Trinity College was the ideal place to get close to the Royal couple, Stephanie was delighted when their distinctive T-shirts grabbed the Duchess’s attention as she presented her a small bouquet of flowers

“Meghan shook our hands and said thank you for coming,” said Stephanie. “I told her it was worth getting up at 5am for and she asked where I was from. I said we travelled from Belfast and she said she really appreciated the effort we had gone to. She was really lovely and very natural.”

However, after the meeting, Gerry Mooney’s photograph seemed to capture the spirit of the day and was used in daily Irish papers as well as in glossy magazines since such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Elle.

Stephanie said she had always admired Meghan Markle since seeing her in the US drama series Suit.

However, her fascination grew when her romance with Prince Harry first broke and grew with the engagement, followed by the wedding in May.

“I’ve always loved Prince Harry as he seems to be just a really genuine, lovely friendly person who has time for everyone and very like his mother.

“It’s just so lovely to see him so happy and I definitely will try and see him and Meghan again in the future.”
