Shimna Stars celebrating after Michelle wins award

CONGRATULATIONS to Michelle Coyne, a member of the Shimna Stars Special Olympics Club, who has achieved her Bronze Award in the Athlete Leadership Programme.

Michelle is one of several athletes from Shimna Stars undertaking the award which gives participants the opportunity to be involved in Special Olympics in different ways.

Michelle was presented with her Certificate of Achievement and medal at a ceremony hosted by Special Olympics Ulster. Thanks also to her mentor Anne for all the hard work and time.

Antje Otto, community engagement officer for VolunteerNow, attended the club recently to receive the very generous donations of non-perishable food items collected by club members. These will be used to provide hampers for senior citizens in the community.

Antje expressed her gratitude and thanks to all who contributed to the collection. The committee of Shimna Stars SOC also wishes to thank the athletes, volunteers and family members who contributed to this worthy cause.
