Schoolgirl to be laid to rest tomorrow

THE young Castlewellan girl who died in a fire at her home on Sunday morning will be laid to rest tomorrow afternoon.

Eighteen year-old Ellen Finnegan, a student at the Assumption Grammar School, died when a fire broke out in a bedroom of the house at Lower Square. The tragedy occurred on the third anniversary of the death of her mother, Nicci, from cancer.

Ellen’s remains will leave her grandfather’s late residence at 10 Woodvale, Castlewellan, at 11am on Tuesday for requiem mass at St Malachy’s Church at 12noon. Burial will take place afterwards in the family burial ground at Aughlisnafin.
