Sarah is the Co. Down Rose

SARAH McKegney has been chosen as the Co Down Rose and now goes forward to the regional finals of the international Rose of Tralee competition.

Sarah (24), who lives outside Carryduff, beat off some stiff competition at the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa on Sunday evening when the Down rose was chosen.

She now joins 20 other girls at the competition’s regional finals being held in Portlaoise between May 30 and June 2, ahead of the grand final in Tralee in August.

On Sunday 21 women were vying to be selected for the latter stages of the prestigious competition but Sarah impressed the judges most.

A chartered accountant, Sarah works for Price Waterhouse Cooper and is very involved in charity work in her local community. She is a member of Bredagh GAC, and has recently taken up Gaelic football, and her future ambitions included travelling the world and starting her own business.

During the event on Sunday £600 was raised for the Southern Area Hospice.
