SAINTFIELD welcomed Millpark to the Demesne on Saturday and on a warm, sunny day, picked up a 67 run victory.

On winning the toss, Saintfield chose toi bat on another good track, but Millpark made an early breakthrough when Sims was caught behind for 0 off Martin’s bowling.

This brought Harrison to the crease to join Stewart and this pair took the score to 47 before Harrison (23) was caught at gully off Ali.

McCavery was next in and he made 17 before Glover had him caught. This brought Woodruff out to the middle and he and Stewart took the score to 124 before Stewart was out for a well made 51. Woodruff continued to be aggressive while Owens just rotated the strike before he was out for 10.

Sofley was bowled in the next over by McCart for 0 and he was quickly followed by Woodruff for 45 with the Saints on 186 for 7.

The run rate increased dramatically with Patterson and Murray at the crease before Patterson went for 20.

Murray was joined by McConnell and they took the score to 216 with Murray finishing on 25 not out.

Saintfield were up against it as they were going to have to bowl without Woodruff,, who injured his shoulder while batting, but Harrison and Sofley had other ideas.

They reduced the visitors to 30 for 5 with Sofley removing the dangerous McCrum for 1 and had Martin LBW. Harrison chipped in with the wickets of P. and S. McCart and Telford removed Ali for 3 with Millpark now on 65 for 6.

Millpark made a fight of it, but they were unable to sustain the momentum as Saintfield bowled them out for 149. Saintfield are at home to Larne on Saturday.
