A SAINTFIELD woman has been presented with a prestigious business award.

Ulster Business School graduate Kathryn Mallon has been named the Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD) Outstanding HR Student of the Year.

Kathryn was presented with her award at the inaugural CIPD Northern Ireland awards held at Belfast’s Ulster Museum by Peter Cheese, CIPD chief executive.

The prestigious awards, which are aimed at celebrating excellence in local HR practice, recognise initiatives that have transformed business and organisational performance.

In addition, the awards also recognise the contribution individuals and teams working in the HR discipline have made to the way people are managed and developed.

Kathryn scooped the CIPD-sponsored prize after graduating from the Ulster Business School with a recognised CIPD postgraduate qualification MSc in Human Resource Management. She is currently recruitment and training manager at G4S.

“I am thrilled that my achievements have been recognised by CIPD Northern Ireland,” said Kathryn after receiving her award.

“My aim was to ensure that the knowledge gained through my Masters programme at the Ulster Business School resulted in real business benefits for my organisation.”

Barry Byrne, managing director of G4S Northern Ireland, said the organisation is “delighted” that Kathryn has received the award.

He added: “G4S recognise the contribution that HR makes to the overall success of our business. We are delighted that Kathryn has received such high praise for her achievements.”

Jeanette Harrison, the Ulster Business School’s Course Director of the MSc in Human Resource Management, added her congratulations to Kathryn.

She added: “We are delighted that one of our graduates has been recognised by CIPD NI for her achievements. Kathryn was an excellent student and is a superb role model within the HR profession.”
