Ryan ready to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro

A KIND-HEARTED Killyleagh man is preparing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Meningitis UK.

Ryan Cleland-Bogle, Managing Director of Lucas Love Recruitment and Lucas Love Healthcare, is making the climb between March 5 and March 12 to help fight a disease which claimed the life of a friend 17 years ago.

He will be climbing Africa’s tallest peak to support the charity’s aim of finding a vaccine to battle the disease.

Every week in the UK six families face the sudden tragedy of losing a loved one to meningitis, which is most prevalent in children and young people and can kill in under four hours.

Thousands of people in the UK are affected every year, devastating families and communities so the development of a vaccine could prove to make a huge difference.

Ryan said he has have chosen Meningitis UK as the beneficiary charity for the challenge as he believes in the battle to find a vaccine to eradicate meningitis.

“Unfortunately, in 1996, a friend passed away suddenly due to meningitis. He was only 17 years of age.

“Seventeen years later seems like a poignant time to try and raise some funds to develop a vaccine so other families to not need to endure the same tragedy as his,” he said.

The trip has been funded by Ryan so every donation will go straight to Meningitis UK. Anyone who would like to support him, and Meningitis UK, can visit www.justgiving.com/Ryan-Cleland-Bogle
