Retiring teacher’s farewell to Saintfield High School

1 January 2014

SAINTFIELD High School has bid a fond farewell to Mr Brian Adams, whose teaching career at the school spanned a remarkable 37 years.

Mr. Adams joined the school’s teaching staff in 1976 and taught thousands of pupils over the years, including two or three generations from the same family.

During his time at the school he taught physical education, history and, more recently motor vehicle and road user studies, in addition to his many other varied roles.

Mr. Adams also raised money for charity, officiated and umpired at hundreds of school football matches, and organised 23 school trips to a wide variety of far-flung locations.

In addition he ran the school’s Duke of Edinburgh scheme for many years, and compered dozens of variety concerts and evenings held at the school.

He also chaired the school’s Parent-Teacher Association for 24 years, since its creation in 1984.

Saintfield High School has extended thanks to Mr. Adams for his huge contribution to school life, stating that he would be missed by his fellow teachers, members of non-teaching staff, pupils past and present, and the wider school community.
