Rain fails to deter ladies

Rain fails to deter ladies

21 August 2019

DESPITE lots of rain in the local area, Crossgar ladies had two wonderful days of golf at the Roe Valley Golf Resort, hosted by Crossgar Golf Club lady captain, Barbara Wootton.

Because of the weather forecasts and guided by the golf shop, the decision was made to play the main competition on the first day. However, even the fun competition was blessed with good conditions and members had only two showers on the second day.

There were no twos winners on the first day, but the rollover went jointly to Liz Murray and Oriel Nesbitt for successfully scoring a two on the Friday.

Friday was an individual stapleford competition, but the scores were also computed into a team waltz and winners were Monica Magee, Rosie Boulter and Anne McCart, with Monica achieving the overall winner prize.

Prizes for the main competition were as follows: nearest the pin, Isobel Hyde; longest drive, Samantha Coulter;  best front nine, Samantha Coulter; best back nine, Isobel Hyde; runner-up, Maeve Fay; trophy winner, Joyce Dodd.

There was a fun prize for those not winning and it was drawn by the lady vice-captain Sylvia Flynn. The happy winner was Catherine Milhench.

Sylvia also took the opportunity on behalf of the ladies all to thank the lady captain for organising such a successful outing and also to announce to the delight of everybody that the incoming lady vice-captain would be Liz Murray.
