A MEMORABLE bike show was the latest event in Raffrey Presbyterian Church’s 175th anniversary celebrations.

Held at the end of last month, the hugely popular event raised £4,550 for the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance.

George McCann, who is well known in the motorcycle world, held four chat shows with his guests including up and coming riders Cameron Dawson, Andrew Smyth and Sam Laffins who were joined by the experienced Ryan Farquhar.

Also in attendance were the ‘Dromara Destroyers’ — Ian McGregor, Raymond McCullough, Trevor Steele and world champion Brian Reid, who also featured in one of the chat shows.

Current British Superbike rider Andrew Irwin was joined by his father and former road racer, Alan, for one of the other chat shows.

Reid was back in the chat show chair for the fourth event when he was joined by Killinchy’s

Jim Rogers and Raffrey’s David McClenaghan who was one of the founder members of the Dromara Destroyers Supporters Club.

Bike show organisers were delighted to be able to raise a significant sum for the Air Ambulance which included a very generous donation from Ian Dawson for an Air Ambulance T-shirt signed by riders at this year’s North West 200.

Raffrey anniversary celebrations conclude this weekend with a Christmas tree festival depicting the nativity, biblical themes, community and church life. It is open this Friday and Saturday from 10.30am to 9pm and again on Sunday from 2.30pm to 5pm.
