Pupils in the spotlight for online TV channel

29 May 2019

PUPILS from Christ the King Primary School in Drumaness became television stars for the day recently.

The children were chosen to take part in an online programme produced by the Education Authority’s EATV.

C2K NewsDesk, the government’s ICT digital platform for schools, chose the school’s P4 class taught by Miss Lindsey Upritchard as an example of excellent teaching and use of NewsDesk within the classroom.

C2K NewsDesk is a digital resource which is freely available to all teachers and pupils in Northern Ireland with a C2K account.

Some pupils, including Ciara Fagan, were interviewed by the EATV team about how they use the resource.

The EATV clip will be used to help other schools and teachers see the benefits of using Newsdesk within the classroom — putting Christ the King on the digital map for schools in Northern Ireland.

NewsDesk provides pupils with an opportunity to engage with current news stories in a digital environment, in turn producing their own news and stories which are important to them.

NewsDesk also provides pupils with an opportunity to practice talking and listening, reading and writing skills that have been previously taught in the classroom.
