Parrots squawk again in Seaforde

Parrots squawk again in Seaforde

THE owner of three rare parrots stolen from their perches last week is celebrating their safe and unexpected return.

Lady Anthea Forde issued a heartfelt appeal for the return of her valuable birds after they were taken from their enclosures during a late night burglary at Seaforde Butterfly House last week.

She said she was tearful about the burglary and concerned the birds, which are each valued at between £800 and £1,000, would be seriously traumatised by their ordeal.

Lady Anthea was therefore stunned when two of the birds were handed back to her by police last week, with the third, her oldest parrot, an Amazonian named Pedro, returned at the weekend.

She said Pedro was so dishevelled by his ordeal that she initially told police it was not her bird.

However, once he was put into his own enclosure, he sparked back to life, returning to his normal chatty self.

“We were not 100 per cent certain that Pedro was ours at the weekend,” she said.

“I think he was totally traumatised as were the other birds as they have obviously had quite a frightening time.”

Lady Anthea said she was very surprised to have the parrots back again.

“I think somebody must gave felt sorry for them and handed them back,” she said. “They are slowly coming around and are getting more and more chatty.

“I am very happy it has all ended as it has. I never thought I would see them again.

“I am very thankful there was a nice man out there who felt sorry for my parrots and got them back to me.”
