Niamh getting into swing for Christmas

Niamh getting into swing for Christmas

22 November 2023

THE hugely talented Niamh Noade, who has close family ties with Drumaness, is helping not one, but two charities in the run-up to Christmas.

Fifteen year-old singer/harpist Niamh, who was a finalist in this year’s Ireland Junior Eurovision, has written two Christmas songs.

One of them has been written in collaboration with a girl from Wicklow — also named Niamh and also an Ireland Junior Eurovision finalist.

Niamh’s song is called A Christmas Wish and the two Niamhs’ song is called Christmas All Year and both will be released at the end of this month.

Niamh’s chosen charity is the Make A Wish Foundation UK. To date, she has raised £7,500 for children’s charities through her music and this Christmas hopes to raise a further £2,500.

Niamh has previously raised money for the Cancer Fund for Children and the Simon Community for NI.

This year, she has connected with a family who have had the unfortunate experience of going through cancer assessments for their 10-year-old son who was fortunate to receive the news just last month that he is cancer free.

However, the family is keen to come on board with Niamh to share their story in an effort to increase donations for the Make A Wish Foundation.

Their Christmas wish is that the children and families that they have met over the past year who have not been as fortunate enough as them to receive a cancer free diagnosis, get the wishes they hope for this year.

This summer, there were celebrations in Drumaness when Niamh made it through to the next stage of this year’s hugely popular The Voice Kids after wowing judges Willi.i.am, Ronan Keating, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones with her spellbinding performance of Abba’s Winner Takes It All.

While Niamh is from Lislea in Co Armagh, she has strong family connections in Drumaness where he dad Mal grew up.

He played gaelic football for Drumaness GAC and was a member of the successful side which won the Down Junior Championship in 2010 and reached the Ulster semi-finals.  All of Mal's family still live locally.
