McKay hat-trick secures crown

McKay hat-trick secures crown

22 May 2013

BALLYKINLAR Rec secured the Division 3 title with a magnificent victory over Maghera II at Donard Park on Monday night.

A minute silence was observed before kick-off in memory of left back Dean Murray who passed away early last week.

A massive support had gathered to support the Rec on and they took the lead after 24 minutes when Chris McKay slammed in the opener to maintain his rich vein of scoring form.

Chris McKay went on to torment Maghera in the second half and he bagged his second on 63 minutes with one of his trademark finishes.

Things boiled over in the 70th minute and a player from each side was red carded in a bid to calm things down.

Magical McKay made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the 75th minute and Conor Mason finished the scoring with a brilliant finish.

Special thanks goes to all the supporters who turned up on the night and also to Hugh McEvoy and Donna McVeigh for the lovely banner of Dean Murray.
