DOWN District Accessible Transport recently celebrated success in achieving the Investing in Volunteers Award.
At a function in the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, the Award was presented by Sandra Adair, Director of Policy and Capacity Building and NI Lead Assessor to Janette Bradshaw, Volunteer Co-ordinator and Francis Casement, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, along with other Trustees.
Investing in Volunteers is the UK Quality Standard for all organisations which involve volunteers in their work. The Standard enables organisations to comprehensively review their volunteer management and also publicly demonstrate their commitment to volunteering.
Janette said Down District Accessible Transport had to fulfil nine indicators which addressed the area of policy, resources, community diversity, role definition, protection and safeguarding, equality, induction, support and supervision and recognition.
“As a result of our success, Down District Accessible Transport has established a pathway to volunteering designed to give volunteers the best opportunities for an appropriate role that fulfils their expectations and ambitions,” she said.
“Volunteers may be seeking to broaden their experience, feel they can make a difference or simply want to explore new avenues. Achieving the Investing in Volunteers Award is a whole organisation award and the icing on the cake for all our volunteers who are delivering a personal service on our behalf.”
Anyone interested in volunteering as social car drivers, administrative support, passenger escorts, marketing or as a member of the Board please contact Janette Bradshaw Volunteer Co-ordinator on 02844617900 for further information.
