Locals return with gold medals

12 July 2011

THE locally-based Trampoline Network achieved another triple gold in the Northern Ireland Championships at the weekend.

Following their recent success of three gold medals in the Northern Ireland South Eastern Regional Trampoline competition in November, the Trampoline Network were celebrating again.

Kelly Fitzsimons was first in the novice U-19 girls’ competition and team-mates Erin McGlinchey and Kyle Stewart also took gold in U-15 girls’ and U-15 boys’ novice sections respectively.

The scores were Kyle Stewart 44.5, Erin McGlinchey 44.7, Kelly Fitzsimons 46.6.

It was a quite a success for the club which is still in its first season.

Head coach Graham Erskine said afterwards: “I was surprised we took three golds in the regional final but to now take three golds in the Northern Ireland Championships is fantastic.

“Next year the three of them will move up to the Intermediate level and gradually try to work their way up to elite level.”

The competitors all appeared in their brand new sponsored T-shirts supplied for the event by Partridge Peartree, the promotional gifts company.

The club which has split training between Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Carryduff, and Ballymote Sports and Wellbeing Centre, Downpatrick, has recently trebled its membership to 36 members.

Next year they hope to put even more trampolinists into the competition and news of its success is bound to swell numbers even more.

The Trampoline Network trains on Saturday morning at Ballymote Sports and Wellbeing Centre and on Sunday afternoons at the Lough Moss Leisure Centre, Carryduff. Head coach Graham can be contacted on 07968 702535.
