TWO local journalists have been recognised as being amongst the best in Northern Ireland.
BBC Northern Ireland’s Claire Savage from Saintfield and the Belfast Telegraph’s Deborah McAleese, originally from Loughinisland, were among a host of journalists honoured at last week’s CIPR Northern Ireland Media Awards held at The Mac theatre in Belfast.
Claire won the Broadcast Journalist of the year accolade, with the judges describing her as a “polished reporter who always finds the connections.”
Deborah, a former Down Recorder journalist, won the Scoop of the Year. Judges described her revelation about a former IRA spy heading up a school as “jaw-ping.”
