THE annual enrolment service of Second Ballynahinch Boys’ Brigade Company took place on Sunday evening in Ballynahinch Congregational Church.
The church and overflow wing were full as the company chaplain and church minister, the Rev Dr George Speers, welcomed the large congregation of family and friends.
He paid tribute to the ongoing encouragement from parents and the many volunteer leaders and helpers engaged in the work of the BB on a weekly basis.
The challenge of maintaining the attention of the boys was down to the guest speaker, Mr Colin Tinsley, from Hope for Youth Ministries.
Mr Tinsley shared about his work and talked about Stephen, the first Christian in Europe known to have been killed for his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Company section member William Quinn read from Acts 6:1-10. The second Bible reading was read by Junior section member Oliver Chambers, from Acts 7: 54-60. The Anchor Boys closed the service with their Anchor Boy prayer.
BB company Captain Mark Bell has called on all boys to join the adventure at Second Ballynahinch Boys’ Brigade.
He said: “Today we are passionate about building bridges into the local Ballynahinch community and engaging children and young people by means of weekly groups, special events, local district and province wide competitions, community involvement and training programmes.
“The Boys' Brigade offers an experience of life beyond what is possible in school or at home. We believe that by participating in exciting activities, making new friends, having fun and finding out about faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the children and young people can discover and develop their potential.”
