Lecale League celebrating after another great season

THE curtain came down on another successful season for the Lecale Table Tennis League with the annual presentation dinner in Brendan’s Bar and Restaurant in Downpatrick.

The attendance was one of the biggest in years and in his opening address league secretary Jim Ritchie thank all those present for attending.

He gave a résumé of the league’s activities during the years which included raising a considerable sum of money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. He also thanked De La Salle High School for staging the various competitions throughout the season.

The 2012-13 roll of honour is as follows:

Senior League — winners, De La Salle A; runners-up, Annahilt

Intermediate League — winners, Banbridge; runners-up, St. John’s.

Senior Handicap — winners, Killyleagh; runners-up, Strangford B.

Intermediate Handicap — winners, De La Salle C; runners-up, Strangford D.

Liam Polly Cup — winner, Roy Coard; runner-up, Martin Pickles.

Gerry Carson Memorial Cup — winner, Peter Clarke; runner-up, Martin Pickles.

Pat Morgan Perpetual Cup — winner, Adrian Brown; runner-up, Garrett Cullen.

Individual men’s singles winner — Peter Clarke, runner-up, Jay McAllister.

Hall of Fame for 2012 — Jay McAllister.
