KILLYLEAGH and District Family History Society members recently enjoyed a late summer outing to see The History Detectives exhibition at North Down Museum.
The exhibition shows many elements of what the detectives discovered while researching their impressive new book ‘Balloo, Killinchy - A Hidden History’.
This was followed by lunch and a visit to The Somme Centre for a guided tour led by Austin Cheevers, who delivered a talk to the society in November 2024 about Killyleagh soldiers and their families caught up in the First World War.
Society secretary Ken Tait presented Mr Cheevers with a cheque in support of the work of the association.
The next meeting of the society will take place in Killyleagh Masonic Hall in High Street on Monday, October 6, at 7.30pm when the guest speaker will be the Lord Lieutenant for County Down, Mr Gawn Rowan Hamilton. The talk will be followed by light refreshments. Members and visitors are welcome.
