Inch line dancers enjoy a ‘magical atmosphere’

8 June 2022

INCH Line Dancing’s first end of term report presented recently was one of success and high achievement.

The sessions were organised by local lady Lorraine Lennon to raise much-needed finance for the upkeep and maintenance of Inch Parish Hall just outside Downpatrick and so far the magnificent total of £3,510 has been collected.

The dances, under the direction of popular tutor Andrew Robinson, are held every Friday evening and attendance has been consistently high.

Last week’s event had an extra appeal when those responsible for the success of the venture were recognised at a special presentation supper and social gathering organised after the dancing.

Acting as spokesperson for the dancers Mrs Joy Gibson paid tribute to Mrs Lennon and her husband, John, who supervises the catering arrangements as well as volunteer Mrs Marian Ritchie and of course their teacher, Andrew.

Mrs Gibson said the group today was much different than when they first assembled on October 7 last year.

Many new friendships have been forged, those attending have learned to dance and most importantly a  lot of fun was had by all.

In reply Mrs Lennon thanked everyone who had contributed to the success of the venture and said she was “overwhelmed” by the kindness of the presentation.

“We have a great class with a lovely bunch of people who make it a magical atmosphere. Thank you for  supporting us every week,” Mrs Lennon added.

The Inch line dancing sessions will end soon for the summer months but will resume in the autumn.
