Hugh retires from school post

17 September 2014

A SENIOR member of staff at Castlewellan’s St. Malachy’s High School has retired.

Mr. Hugh Moore has stepped down from his position at the Dublin Road school where he worked for almost 20 years as a reprographics technician.

Seventy one year-old Mr. Moore was also a lunchtime supervisor at St. Malachy’s, a post he relinquished in 2008.

His commitment and dedication was always greatly appreciated by staff and pupils alike, with tributes paid to Mr. Moore at a special afternoon tea party held in his honour.

The tributes to Mr. Moore’s “efficiency and professionalism” were led by St. Malachy’s principal, Mrs. Joan McCombe. She said Mr. Moore was a

“great pleasure to work with” and a member of staff who will be very much missed by everyone.

She added: “It has been a privilege for all of us to work alongside Hugh. Our school community has been enriched by his presence. We are sad at his leaving, yet happy to know that Hugh enjoyed being a part of the family of St. Malachy’s.”
