MEMBERS of the public are being given a chance to join a live ghost hunt at Downpatrick Railway Museum.
On Saturday, August 25, Ghost Searchers Ireland is returning to the railway, which they investigated privately earlier this year and describe as a “fantastic” location.
Husband and wife team Gary and Caron Watters from Bangor will be joined by Anne McKinstry and the rest of the team, who have investigated locations across Ireland such as Richhill Castle, Dobbins Inn, Carrickfergus and Denvir’s Hotel.
“We are a spiritual and technical team, using both methods in our bid to draw closer to proving the existence of the spirit world,” said Gary, who said the team aims to use the latest electronic ghost hunting equipment. “None of the team are mediums but some of us do have psychic abilities.”
Gary said next weekend’s event would enable members of the public to experience how a paranormal team operates.
“We did Denvir’s last year but we found it to be pretty quiet compared to the railway station,” said Gary.
“The history of the railway attracted us. The workers there believe it is haunted by a former employee who is a bit of a joker.
“When we were there we picked up a voice in a recording session in the control tower — what is known as an EVP. We asked it questions about the trains and it answered.”
Doors open at 7.30pm and the event is expected to end at around 1am. A light supper will be served and part of an admission fee at the door will go Downpatrick Railway Museum.
