DOWNPATRICK-BASED The Good Little Company has received a £10,000 donation from Karro Food Group to help support the company’s charity work in Africa.
The Good Little Company, owned by Finnebrogue Artisan, is a premium pork sausage brand which gives 50 per cent of its profits to three main charity partners — Christian Aid, Mulanje Mission and the Samburu Trust.
The Good Little Company was established in 2011 and since then the gluten-free sausages brand has experienced a year on year average of 100 per cent sales growth and a resulting £140,000 donated to its charity partners in Kenya and Malawi.
Each year the Good Little Company sends a team, including chairman Denis Lynn, to Africa to visit the projects and work with the charities to form new targets and budgets for the year ahead.
The generous donation, which originated from Karro Food Group’s Cookstown plant, home of the Cookstown brand, will see their work in Africa go further. It will especially benefit the orphan feeding program in Malawi, which is currently experiencing food shortages due to drought.
David Manning, Director, Karro Food Group, said: “The Good Little Company is an excellent initiative by Finnebrogue Artisan and after visiting the projects last summer to see them for myself it seemed necessary that Karro Food Group get involved.
“The well proven and established partnership between Finnebrogue Artisan and Karro Food Group is now further demonstrated by both parties commitment to the Mulanje Mission project in Malawi, the Nomadic people of the Samburu Trust and Christian Aid in Kenya.”
Finnebrogue chairman Denis Lynn, said: “I’m delighted that Karro Food Group has got involved with our charity projects and want to personally thank David Manning, Seamus Carr and Andrew Irwin for this incredible donation.
“At the Good Little Company we believe corporate responsibility is not simply giving some of the profit away to good causes, it is an integral part of good business. We have a strong commitment to the environment, the supply chain, equality and to our charity partners. It is our firm belief that our relationship with our chosen charities should have a positive and measurable impact on both our business and the charities.”
