Ella-Louise’s first cut for charity

Ella-Louise’s first cut for charity

A FOUR year-old Downpatrick girl has had her first hair cut in the name of charity.

Little Ella-Louise Harper was so attached to her waist-long hair that she refused to even consider a trim.

That was until last week when she saw a video of a child having her locks cut off for the Little Princess Trust, which creates wigs for children suffering hair loss due to illness.

Ella-Louise’s mum was so delighted that she had agreed to a haircut that she quickly booked an appointment at The Avenue Hair Salon in Downpatrick.

On Friday, stylists cut nine inches off Ella-Louise’s hair, which was then posted to the Little Princess Trust where it will be formulated into a natural wig for a sick child.

Ella Louise’s mum Catherine says she was shocked when her daughter, who is at nursery school, suddenly agreed to have her hair cut after months of cajoling.

“I didn’t even have time to get her sponsored for charity because I wanted it done before she changed her mind,” she said.

“Her hair was so long that it was getting very difficult to manage.

“She was very happy having the cut though and loved the special treatment she was given in the salon.

“Staff put up balloons and even bought her a doll so Ella-Louise smiled the whole way through. She is now waiting for a certificate from The Little Princess Trust to confirm that a wig has been made from her hair.”
