Drumaness trio win cup after defeating stablemates

21 December 2011

THE 3 a-side competition reached a climatic finale in the Green Heights bar with all participating teams having their chances to leave with the title.

Drumaness Mills carried the advantage with three of the four semi-finalists coming from their stable and a Russell Bar team making up the final four.

First up was Tony Walsh, John McCombe, and Marty Rogan against their colleagues of Emmett Rooney, Peadar Brown and Francie Roberts. The match went right down to the last leg and double, but Rogan secured the win taking his side to the final.

The next match was equally thrilling, once again going the distance. Here, the favourites for the competition, Ray Campbell, Marty McMullan and Alan McEvoy stumbled slightly and narrowly defeated the Russell Bar team of Mark Walker, Ryan Teggart and John Walker, thus leaving an all soccer club final.

The early shock and wake up for Ray Campbell and co., obviously had an effect as they came out for the final a totally different squad, demolishing their team-mates 5-0 with a leg and a man to spare.

League darts resume on January 9 with all teams travelling to the Russell Bar for the neutral venue rounds of the competition. All individual and pair registration forms with monies to be paid on or before this date to the treasurer.

There is no allowance or acceptance for late entry under any circumstances after this date.
