A DOWNPATRICK man has been named chief executive officer of the year at the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association’s Northern Ireland management team awards.

Colin Reid — who is from Belfast-based software provider TotalMobile — was announced the winner at the Association’s annual celebration of excellence in private equity and venture capital that took place recently at the city’s Merchant Hotel.

Now in its eighth year, the management team awards recognise and reward the achievements and success of businesses across the UK which are backed by private equity and venture capital funds.

TotalMobile provides mobile software that enables frontline workers to work more efficiently and to a higher level of quality. Over the past five years, Colin and the management team have successfully transformed the company into a leading enterprise mobile software provider in local government, healthcare and a number of commercial markets.

On Colin’s achievement, the judges commented: “Under Colin Reid’s leadership, TotalMobile has been transformed over the years. It has not only shown turnover growth, but substantial improvement in profitability. Colin as an individual has also contributed significantly to the wider technology market in Northern Ireland and more than deserves to be recognised for his endeavours.”

Colin, who has led the organisation for over 30 years, retired from full time work in July, moving into the role of non-executive director at TotalMobile. He said he was delighted to win the chief executive officer of the year award.

“This is testimony to the great people at TotalMobile; they have made it very easy for me. It has been a privilege to work with such a talented team and to see the fantastic growth and great success we have achieved, particularly over the last few years,” he added.

Winners of the Northern Ireland management team awards will now be entered into the national final to compete against other UK regions, with the national winners announced at the BVCA gala dinner being held in London on December 8.
