A COFFEE event in aid of Macmillan Cancer is being held in Downpatrick’s RGU club on Saturday, September 28.
It is the third such fundraiser being organised by local woman Maria Hamill, who is two years in remission from cancer.
Maria, who had non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, said it was a way of giving back to the charity which helped her.
“Macmillan supported me,” she said. “Probably a lot of it was emotional help but it was invaluable.”
Maria will be helped by sister Roisin on the day and last year they raised £1,800. “We want to keep that going,” she said.
Zumba instructor Emmanuel McStravick will be running a class on Saturday, September 21, in the RGU from 10am to 11am, with all funds being raised donated to the Macmillan Coffee event.
“This is a wonderful gesture and greatly appreciated and we would encourage everyone to join us,” said Maria.
The coffee fundraiser on September 28 will run between 1pm and 4pm.
