Darragh Cross girl pioneering new ‘taste’ shop

A DARRAGH Cross entrepreneur has looked to America to bring a brand new concept to Northern Ireland.

Katie Waddell is celebrating the opening of the province’s first frozen yoghurt shop, Spoon Street, with her business partner Harry Wang.

The Spoon Street concept is inspired by a craze for frozen yoghurts that is sweeping America.

First customers of the shop, which is in Ballyhackamore in Belfast, have given the thumbs-up to the idea, which allows customers to pour their own frozen yoghurt from a selection of 16 different flavours and choose from more than 40 different toppings.

The idea is expected to be a big hit due to the growing popularity of healthy eating and frozen yoghurt being considered a healthy alternative to ice-cream.

Katie said she was keen for Spoon Street, which she hopes will be the first of many such shops, to provide a real “experience” for customers.

“We wanted to make sure that we created a stunning and creative interior for Spoon Street that has a fun and friendly atmosphere,” she said.

“The personal service from our staff and the quality and variety of our frozen yoghurt means that there is something for everyone.”

Harry said they had both spent a lot of time researching frozen yoghurt shops across the USA to ensure that they could bring something new and exciting to Northern Ireland.
