Darragh Cross family given honours at Trust awards

THE Holden family from Darragh Cross was presented with three awards at the annual William Keown Trust personal achievement awards ceremony.

Dad Michael was presented with the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce Cup for Adult Achievement, while his wife Jennifer received a Carer’s Certificate of Merit. The couple’s son Noah was presented with a Child of Courage Certificate of Merit.

Also at the recent presentation ceremony, Mrs. Ida Smith, a teacher at Knockevin Special School in Downpatrick, received an Adult Achiever’s Certificate of Merit on behalf of school pupil Rory Doran.

Now in its 34th year, the William Keown Trust which provides services and activism for local people, received a high number of nominations for this year’s personal achievement awards.

The awards ceremony was held at the Seagoe Hotel in Portadown where 26 people from across the Province received awards.

Trust chairman, Mr. Mr Philip Beattie, welcomed the various recipients and their families along with the organisation’s president Kate Smith and Down Council chairman Billy Walker.

 

The special guest at the awards ceremony was Paralympian gold medal winner Kelly Gallagher who was presented with a special trophy in recognition of her achievement.
