Dancers get into line for Christmas festive party

15 December 2021

CHRISTMAS  came early for the line dancers of Inch Parish Hall last Friday night when they were treated to a special festive party.

Organised by group leader Lorraine Lennon, ably assisted by her husband John and dance tutor Andrew Robinson, the party marked the “end of term” for the dancing which will resume on Friday, January 7.

The line dancing at Inch just outside Downpatrick has proved to be a major success with participants traveling considerable distances to take part in the weekly event.

Originally set up by Mrs Lennon to raise much-needed funds for the essential maintenance of the hall, its popularity has exceeded all expectations with numbers attending consistently in the high twenties or low thirties.

Before last week’s party Mrs Lennon thanked everyone for their continued support which she said was greatly appreciated.

She paid tribute to their popular and multi-talented dance teacher Andrew who she said took so much trouble to research, learn and demonstrate new dances every week.

A member of the internationally acclaimed Ballylone Concert Flute Band, Andrew treated the dancers to a musical interlude during the party.

Prior to the festivities he presented Mrs Lennon with a gift to thank her for all her hard work on behalf of the group.

“We look forward to seeing everyone again on January 7 and in the meantime John, Andrew and I wish everybody a very happy and peaceful Christmas,” Mrs Lennon said.
