Daly delivers the goods on Robert’s day at St Patrick’s

GERRY Daly was the toast of St Patrick’s Golf Club when he won Robert McCausland’s Captain’s Day competition on Saturday.

The popular Gerry saved his best round for the biggest day of the year and came in with 40 points.

It was just enough to beat runner-up Pauric O’Reilly, who finished a point adrift on 39 points.

Also returning 39 points were Conor McMenamin and Vincent Quinn, who were third and fourth respectively.

Sean McMahon won the gross prize with a level par 69 and the guests’ prize was won by Gary Murray with 38 points.

Raymond McCormick won the Council prize with 35 points, Gerry Reilly was the best of the past captains with 38 points, Peter Nickel won the seniors’ prize with 37 points and Paddy Deegan rolled back the years to win the gold section with 38 points. Paddy Totton won the nearest the pin prize.

The ladies’ competition was won by Eileen Mullen with 38 points, four better than runner-up Anne Teggart.

Sunday’s four-man team competition was won by Jarlath Magee, Paul McCrissican, Anthony Savage and John Torney with 96 points.
