A LOCAL woman has picked up a major award in London on behalf of the East Belfast Mission.

Anne Walsh, who lives between Ballynahinch and Crossgar, is the Mission’s Business Development Director and last week was presented with the UK’s Best Social Enterprise of the Year Award on behalf of her organisation.

The East Belfast Mission received the award for its work in providing vital jobs and community services through Skainos, its flagship social economy village in the Ballymacarrett area.

Anne said the award was recognition of the Mission’s work in providing services to some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

She said the East Belfast Mission was delighted to receive this accolade in recognition of all the work it does, with the awards recognising the value and impact social enterprises such create for the economy and in the communities they serve.
