Crossgar child wants people to have Faith as she offers advice

1 April 2020

A LITTLE Crossgar girl has become an internet sensation with her public safety plea urging people to fight the coronavirus outbreak.

Four year-old Faith McGreevy was captured on video by her mother, Lisa, last week repeating the public health warning to combat COVID-19.

“You have to stay in the house for two weeks or maybe 100 weeks,” says Faith in her message. “And when you stay in your house and stop going everywhere, like SuperValu, then the bug will go away.”

Faith, who attends the nursery at Cedar Integrated Primary School, adds that if everyone does what they are told “the bug would go away soon and then we could go everywhere again”.

Faith says that when she grows up she wants to be a doctor because she likes to make people well again, or maybe a cleaner because she loves helping her mum tidying the house – she can’t decide yet.

Her mum says she has a “terrific grasp” of current affairs and is never short of an answer.

Describing her daughter as being “no mug”, she said: “When me and her dad Robbie wanted to wean her off the dummy we told her she should give it to Santa.

“She agreed saying it was a great idea, but could she have the other dummy that was in the kitchen drawer.”

Faith seems to be coping well with not being at school over the past few weeks due to the lockdown.

Lisa said: “Sometimes Faith would ask me why can’t she can’t play with her friends, but in general she is coping very well with the nursery closure.

“It is a great opportunity to bond more with her little brother, one year-old Eoin. Most of the time they get on well but there has been a few times that I’ve caught them wrestling each other in the garden.

Lisa has also been coping well with being in lockdown with the children. She said: “Just before the lockdown was implemented I did some forward planning and I stocked my freezer up with meat and essentials. I also made sure I had plenty of Calpol and paraceteamol to tide us over in case we needed them.”

Lisa will be soon joining the fight against COVID-19 from the front line next week. She said: “Last December I applied for an administrative job with Lagan Valley Hospital. I was successful and I am looking forward to starting next week.”
