Councillor remains seriously ill in hospital

NAOMI Bailie is in a stable condition in hospital, two weeks after becoming seriously ill with meningitis.

The high profile Sinn Fein councillor remains in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where she is slowly recovering from the disease.

The mother of one, from Ballygalget, was hospitalised two weeks ago.

News that she was critically ill shocked the local community, with hundreds going online to express their support to her family.

Naomi’s supporters have expressed their delight in recent days to hear she has awoken and spoke  to family members, although her recovery is expected to take some time.

Her mother Sheila has urged people to pray for her daughter’s recovery, saying she believes “prayer can move mountains.”
