BALLYNAHINCH’S Millbrook Lodge Hotel was the venue last week for a cross-community ceilidh event.
Over 100 people from the Saintfield, Ballynahinch, Crossgar, Drumaness and Dromara areas took part in the event organised by Choice Housing.
Designed specifically for those over 50, the Millbrook Lodge event was funded by the Department of Communities’ T:Buc initiative.
With ceilidhs a great way to link communities through music and dance, last Wednesday’s event was also an opportunity to share information on various good relations programmes for older people through T:Buc initiative.
Music was provided by the Dancing Digits and further multicultural flavour was added by a Chinese fan dance team who carried out a traditional Chinese dance performance during the fun-filled afternoon.
Sharon Hunt, Choice’s community support officer, explained that along with the organisation’s other partners, it was delighted to hold the colourful, multicultural, cross-community event.
She added: “The atmosphere was fantastic and we look forward to hosting more events such as this in the future to improve local community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society.”
