Carryduff GAC ready for anniversary party

16 May 2012

CARRYDUFF GAC is celebrating 40 years of Gaelic games and culture and is planning to so in style.

The celebrations commenced with the first ever Strictly Come Dancing on April 13, proudly sponsored by Sentel Ltd.

A fantastic night was had by all at the La Mon House Hotel with over 700 people attending the event.

Hosted by Connor Philips of Cool FM and judged by Barry McElduff (MLA), Lynda Bryans (UTV/BBC) and Michelle McTernan (MMM PR Consultancy), Mary Early and Eugene McNicholl were crowned Carryduff GAC Strictly Come Dancing champions 2012.

Congratulations are extended to them and to all sponsors, advertisers and members and friends who raised in excess of £14,000 for the club.

A DVD package of the main event and the launch night are available to purchase for £7 or three copies for £20.

The second event will be the Festival Weekend with cultural events arranged in the marquee on Friday and Saturday night, May 25-26. The much anticipated fun-day will also take place at the club grounds on Saturday, May 25, from 1-5pm. Donations are requested for prizes for the ballot. These can be left at the club house any night during the preceding week.

The celebrations to mark this auspicious occasion will be concluded with a gala dinner at the spectacular Titanic Signature Building on Saturday, October 13.

Tickets are now available at £65 per ticket or table of ten for £650.

To facilitate members, a standing order mandate can be downloaded from the club website. This will facilitate payment of the cost of tickets/tables over a four month period from June to September.

Completed mandate forms should be given to Daniel Rogers (treasurer) or any member of the executive committee by June 10. Sponsorship opportunities will also be available and will be announced shortly.

The club is keen to acknowledge the assistance of everyone who has contributed to the development of the club, Gaelic games and culture in the Carryduff area over the past 40 years.

Every man woman and child who has worn a Carryduff jersey with pride, everyone who has managed teams, sat on committees, marked a field, washed a kit, made sandwiches and tea, cleaned a changing room, raised funds, put up a flag, supported and cheered teams, shared our victories and our defeats, those who have toiled and sweated and those who quietly, with perseverance, have worked so tirelessly to ensure that our children and grandchildren will continue to enjoy and, in their turn, pass on our great traditions.

Ag ceiliúradh daichead bliain, bígií linn. Celebrating forty years, be part of it.
