Brendan crowned Young SuperStar at ceremony

A CROSSGAR boy was crowned a super hero at a glittering awards ceremony at the Titanic Hotel in Belfast.

Twelve year-old Brendan Morgan won the Young SuperStar category in the SuperValu SuperStars competition.

Big-hearted Brendan was chosen as a result of the care he provides to his mother who suffers from a serious illness that makes her unable to go out.

Brendan’s mother, who is also a single parent, nominated him for the award to recognise his selflessness in someone so young.

Speaking after the event, Brendan said: “I’m so happy to get this award. I couldn’t believe it when they called out my name.

“First of all, I won the Young SuperStar category and that made my night as all of the finalists had amazing stories.

“But when I heard the judges say I needed to be highly commended as well for helping my mummy I was so shocked.”

On top of his award, Brendan received a £250 shopping voucher from SuperValu.

Brendan Gallen, SuperValu Head of Marketing said: “We would like to congratulate Brendan Morgan, and all of this year’s SuperValu SuperStars, who have each made outstanding contributions to their communities.

“We were blown away by Brendan’s unique and inspiring story. He embodies the spirit of the community and should each be very proud of his achievement.”
