Ballynahinch couple are two of top foster carers

A BALLYNAHINCH couple were runners-up in the Foster Carer of the Year awards held recently in Stormont.

Brian and Avril Kenwell were nominated by their foster daughter Elaine, who has been in their care for around eight years.

Elaine nominated the couple for the major impact they had made on her life.

“Right from the start I felt part of their family, they made me feel special from the first day I moved in,” she said. “If it wasn’t for them I don’t know where I would have ended up.

“Knowing them has turned my whole life around.”

The award, run by The Fostering Network, was presented by Michelle McIlveen MLA at the Foster Carer Awards Ceremony in Stormont.
