Award for top energy student

30 October 2013

A CASTLEWELLAN student, regarded as a rising star in the energy sector, has been presented with a major award.

Robert Dixon was recognised for his excellence in the Queen’s University B.Eng. Hons. Mechanical Engineering course at the annual Energy Institute student awards evening held recently in Belfast.

The award ceremony, hosted by the Northern Ireland branch of the Energy Institute and sponsored by AES, was attended by nearly 20 students from Queen’s and the University of Ulster’s Jordanstown campus.

Robert was presented with a finalist award as a result of his dedicated studies and high achievements in his course, especially his dissertation which focused on reusing energy in domestic waste water.

He and the other finalists were nominated by their university schools from the outstanding students in their last academic year or recent graduates of Master’s courses.
