Aundrea’s big day at Temple

Aundrea’s big day at Temple

20 August 2014

TEMPLE Golf Club’s lady captain, Aundrea Gray, recently hosted the 20th anniversary Lady Captain’s Day at the club.

The course was, once again, in superb order in anticipation for the eagerly awaited day and the ladies did not disappoint with a fantastic turn-out and some great golf.

The winning formula commenced with a bang as the lady captain fired the gun for the shotgun start, then sped off in a well-stocked buggy to deliver some hard-earned refreshments to the ladies out on the course.

To everyone’s delight the beautiful blue skies prevailed, ensuring lots of run on the ball and perfect scoring conditions.

The lady captain went to considerable effort, planning and preparation to ensure the day went like clockwork and it wasn’t long before the ladies were welcomed to enjoy a delicious three-course meal followed by the prize giving of fabulous designer handbags. The after dinner entertainment got everyone on their feet for some Salsa lessons and dancing.

The lady captain kindly commissioned a 20th Anniversary cake to mark the occasion and invited her lady vice-captain, Mrs Heather Coates, one of the longest serving members of the club, to cut the cake before finishing with a champagne toast.

Aundrea thanked her special guests, including her daughter, Roxanne, for all her help and support both on the day and throughout the year, her mother, Valerie, sisters, Ashleigh and Amanda, and friends from other clubs — Kerry McCaughan from Lisburn GC, Susy Cashman from Belvoir Park GC, and Margaret Hendron, lady captain of Tandragree GC.

She then went on to praise the efforts of her lady vice-captain, her fellow committee members and the staff and green keepers at Temple GC.

Temple Golf Club will be holding a beginners night for ladies tomorrow (Thursday), 7-8.30pm. It will include a free taster golf session followed by a light supper.
