Armed robbery at Ballynahinch off licence

 

POLICE are appealing for information after an off licence in Ballynahinch was robbed by an armed man last night.

At around 9.45pm the man entered the shop on the Belfast Road and threatened a member of staff before leaving with money and cigarettes.

Detective Inspector Harry Colgan said the man was armed with a "suspected firearm."

"Another man is believed to have waited outside the shop armed with a hammer," he added. "The male armed with a suspected firearm is believed to have threatened a member of staff during the incident. The staff member was not injured, but left badly shaken.

"The males made off from the shop on foot towards the Moss Road area with a sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes. Enquiries are continuing."
