THE Vicar of Down braved a yellow weather warning to join Eurovision singer Dana at an event celebrating St Patrick.
The Adrian Dorrian, who is the voice of St Patrick on her latest Light the Fire recording, sang with Dana and about 200 pilgrims in the rain at Ballintubber Abbey in Co Mayo.
The praise and worship outdoor gathering in the grounds of the 12th century abbey was the second annual Light the Fire event.
The Archbishop of Tuam, Francis Duffy, lit a symbolic fire of faith and love in front of around 200 pilgrims and prayed for a renewal of Christian faith across the island.
Last year around 4,000 gathered at Slane where St Patrick lit the first paschal fire in 433AD.
The Rev Dorrian said it was worth the drive in the rain to be there.
“It has just been such a special day and it continues to be a real blessing to be part of Light the Fire,” he said.
The Rev Dorrian also said that he was “absolutely” flying the flag for Downpatrick.
“A great day,” he remarked.
