DUNDRUM professional Raviraj Patil enjoyed an incredible weekend which culminated in him hitting the cricketing Holy Grail — six sixes in one over.
The Indian opening batsman recorded the rare feat during his team’s Ulster Shield clash with Sion Mills in Tyrone, an encounter the Dundrum team won by 50 runs.
But Patil’s weekend began the previous day with the visit of unbeaten Section One team Woodvale to the Meadow.
After the bowlers had skittled the Belfast side for just 76, Patil smashed the Woodvale bowlers all around the ground, scoring 53 runs in just 15 balls. Dundrum won by eight wickets.
And so to Sion Mills, one of the bedrocks of cricket in the north west where the West Indians famously came to grief many years ago.
Patil continued in the vein of form so outrageously displayed the previous day by hitting 167 runs in just 78 balls.
The diminutive Indian smashed 18 sixes and nine boundaries, including that remarkable over of sixes.
The Dundrum professional has now earned himself a reputation within the NCU as a prolifically destructive batsman with the ability to transform a match in just a few overs.
